Kate Goldsworthy is a textile designer and researcher based in the Textiles Environment Design department at Chelsea College of Art and Design. With extensive materials and process expertise, her passion lies with issues of sustainability in the textile world, particularly the recycling and reuse of polyesters.

Kate has been designing with reclaimed textiles since 2000, with the intention of challenging preconceptions these materials and elevating their status. Recent work has focused on the concept of life-cycle thinking and ‘designing in’ solutions as part of the creative process. Her PhD project entitled Material Re-creation, explores these themes along with new manufacturing processes and digital technologies to ‘upcycle’ synthetic materials.
