Dan Epstein is been Head of Sustainable Development and Regeneration for the Olympic Delivery Authority, where his job is to oversee development and implementation of a sustainability strategy for the development and to support work on the long term transition and legacy of the park and surrounding development.  

Prior to this Dan was environmental policy manager for English Partnerships where he was responsible for overseeing the development of policies, strategies and standards for the partnerships development programme of 9000 homes per annum across England.  

Dan has been working in the environmental and sustainable development sector since 1984. He started his career in Nepal where he spent 7 years working as a bio-engineer and forester repairing landslides on major road and water projects.  

He has also worked in the UK on a number of land reclamation and regeneration schemes in the North of England developing briefs for sustainable buildings, landscape and infrastructure. In particular, Dan spent 7 years working on the Earth Centre developing a prototype sustainable development on a 400 acre former colliery site that included 2 rivers a canal, a railway station, highly contaminated land and 2 of the poorest communities in the UK. As client project manager he was responsible for appointing and working with architects like Feilden Clegg Bradley, Will Alsop and Bill Dunster.  

Dan has helped establish the sustainability consultants Beyond Green and was the sustainability champion for the growth of Ashford, one of the government’s 4 growth areas.
